The planning application for Jersey's new Esplanade Quarter is now available for public comment. Made on behalf of the Waterfront Enterprise Board and Harcourt Developments it can be viewed here: www.gov.je/PLanningEnvironment The application is based on the approved Masterplan for the site which was designed by the world renowned Hopkins Architects. Incorporating over 57,000 square metres of high quality offices, approximately 400 homes, 2,500 square metres of retail space, restaurants, a hotel, leisure facilities and public gardens, the Esplanade Quarter site has been designed to be an integrated area where islanders can work, live, relax and enjoy life. |
Public spaces including squares, gardens and tree-lined walkways have been given strong focus by the developers. Many of the buildings will also have unique roof gardens which have been designed to reflect the typical pattern of the island's fields and will help to sensitively integrate the buildings into the environment. A wintergarden will also be created to enable the public to enjoy the beauty of nature all year round. Esplanade Quarter will be a space which all islanders will be proud to claim as their own.
